Baden-Württemburg

This region of Germany, nestled on the French border, pretty much captures Germany in a nutshell. There is industrial might in Stuttgart, and the Germans can pretend they get back to nature by going to the Schwarzwald, the famed Black Forest. Of course, this is basically just a few trees, but if you were to say something like "Don't you guys have a real forest?", they would probably get all uptight. Instead, look at this as an opportunity to once more gain points with your wife, by trying to find Hansel and Gretel's house. This should give you an excellent excuse to travel about and see lots of small town soccer, with frequent stops at local pubs to ask for "directions".
