BFV Hassia Bingen

The Binger Fussball Verein "Hassia" was founded in 1910. Prior to WW-II, they remained under the radar, the sole blip perhaps in 1940, when they participated in the promotion playoffs for the Gauliga Südwest. After a brief period of banishment in 1945, the club was reconstituted in 1946, and has pretty much been a fixture in the amateur Oberliga Südwest from the mid 1970s. However, the new milenium turned out to be a disaster, and they were relegated back to the 5th division, but luckily were able to bounce back soon.

The only "top flight" appearance was in the 1952-53 season, as they played in the old Oberliga Südwest, which was "top" since Germany only had regional divisions then. Even so, they only played up as VfR Baumholder went bankrupt after one game, and Bingen replaced them in the league. The results on the field weren't too good (only 3 draws, 27 losses, 141 goals against), but they did average some 2,500 fans per match, their all-time record.

In recent years, they've remained in obscurity, usually in the 4th or 5th division.

From 1919-74 they played in the Stadion Büdesheim (from 1933-45 it was known as the "Horst-Wessel-Kampfbahn"), with a capacity of around 8,000.

Supporters Fan support is small Throughout the 1980s-1990s, they seemed to average around 300-400 fans. Averaged 310 in 2004 (Oberliga).

Pub Grub The stadium has a snack bar, and the club building, the Herrenhaus also has food. They claim to have the best sausages in the league.
