BSV 92 Berlin

Founded in 1892 as Berliner TuFC Britannia, in 1914 they abandoned the British connection and became BSV 92. Immediately after WW-II, they were officially known as SG Wilmersdorf (until 1948).

The most successful period was the 1930s, as BSV became one of the city powers, winning Gauliga titles in 1936 and 1938. After WW-II, they had some decent years as well, 1950 being notable with attendance averaging 9,500. However, by the mid 1950s, they had become a 2nd class Berlin club, - the last Berlin title was in 1954 - and gradually sunk into oblivion.

BSV has moved around. They played at various locations until 1909, when they moved to Stadion Am Bahnhof-Schmargendorf. In 1932 they moved to Stadion Am Lochowsdamm (capacity 10,000), which was torn down in 1945. After a 6 year stay at the Poststadion, they ended up at Wilmersdorf. Built in 1951 with 38,000 capacity, the stadium was never filled. In 1984, most of it was "given back to nature", and only the old seating remains. In fact, the northern standing section was turned into a vinyard!!
