The first big jump was in 1995, as they qualified for the Regionalliga. The 1998-99 season was pretty much a replicate of the previous few years in the Regionalliga. The next season was critical, as it was the the year to qualify for the new combined Regionalliga. Wacker started off slowly, but then got hot in the 2nd half, qualifying easily. Then in 2002, they made the jump up to the 2.Liga. Against all expectations, they managed to finish midtable.
