SGK Heidelberg

Generally speaking, university towns have crappy soccer teams. Perhaps in Europe, university students are too busy pretending solidarity with the working class instead practicing REAL solidarity with the working class - by going to a soccer match. In the case of Heidelberg, they couldn't even be bothered to have their own team, so they had to steal one from a nearby village.

Kirchheimer FG was founded in 1910 and managed to play in the Gauliga Nordbaden in 1939/40, which was it's best year. After WW-II, te club was joined by several other local clubs representing athletics, gymnastics, chess etc and formed SG Kirchheim. In 1986, the club claimed Heidelberg, for easier name recognition no doubt.
