VfV Hildesheim VfV Hildesheim This club was founded in 1945, as the continuation of several local clubs that had been dissolved.
The highpoint was in 1962, when coming off a 3rd place finish in the then top-level Oberliga Nord, they participated in European competition, the summer Intertoto Cup, basically to keep football pools alive. They faced Hungary's Dozsa Pecs, Blauw-Wit Amsterdam, and Yugoslav club Velez Mostar finishing last in their group with 1 win, 5 losses. The highpoint? 1-0 win over the Dutch club, the low a 1-9 drubbing in Bosnia...
After many years in obscurity, they appear to be making a comeback into the upper regions of regional play.
