DEFUNCT - R.I.P.

OK, they're not really defunct, but they don't play soccer anymore, so they might as well be.

MTV is the largest sportsclub in the city, with about 3,400 members. It was founded in 1881, and soccer has been played since 1905. The soccer players became independant in 1924, but were forced back in in 1933.

In 2004, as rival ESV faced bankruptcy, the players of both clubs, in an unusual move of solidarity, combined to form a new soccer club, FC Ingolstadt, which played it's first season in the Oberliga Bayern.
