SC Preußen Köln 1994

This club was founded in 1994, through a merger of the historic Viktoria Köln, which goes back to 1904, and SC Brück. Despite some reverses on the field (2 straight Abstiegs into oblivion), they are on the comeback trail.

Viktoria itself was the result of a merger, back in 1957, between Preussen Dellbrück and SC Rapid Köln. The former club had a nice run in the German championship back in 1950, when they made it to the semifinals. Viktoria was really just a poor 3rd cousin behind 1.FC and Fortuna. In 1963 the city designated Viktoria has it's representative in the "Fairs Cup", which was the forerunner of the UEFA.

The 99/00 season was quite a success, as although they finished runner up, they were the only team to defeat champions Wuppertaler SV twice.

For the start of the 2002/03 season, the club renamed itself to SCB Viktoria Köln.
